An independent living center is a:
- Consumer-controlled,
- Community-based,
- Cross-disability,
- Non-residential,
- Private nonprofit agency
An independent living center offers four core services to people with disabilities:
- Information and Referral
- Living Skills Training
- Advocate Assistance
- Peer Sharing
